  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

I'm sorry you have a cold, Claire. But, you wrote about it beautifully! I am suffering from allergies. Not quite the same as a cold, but close. I have a horrible cough and now it's keeping me up at night. I am foggy also.

I think your pie discovery adventure is a great idea! Please keep us updated.

Banana creme? Yum!
Blueberry? Mmmm. Yum!
Lemon merengue? Yum! Yum!
Apple? Yummy!

Can't really think of an unyummy pie, now that I ponder it!
